About Open Soma Flow
Roberta is an Integrative Somatic Movement Practitioner with over 25 years of experience in yoga and mindfulness. Her foundation includes training in Hatha, Iyengar, and Restorative Yoga, with additional studies in Feldenkrais and Somatics. She is certified in MBSR and Awake Awareness Meditation. Roberta guides people in creating intentional transitions that support freedom from held patterns that no longer serve a useful purpose.
In 2010, she was introduced to James Knight (founder of Gentle Somatic Yoga®) who helped in her recovery from a serious injury. Not only was surgery avoided, but this practice restored her full range of motion and released distress patterns. Inspired by her own transformation she completed all 3 levels of GSY certification and continues to collaborate with James at retreats and trainings.
Somatics has become a central focus of her work, as its unique approach to movement is unparalleled in its ability to restore freedom to the body. Somatics is a form of neuromuscular education that uses the technique of pandiculation to retrain muscle memory, relieve pain and increase performance.
Inspired to help others connect deeply with their body’s inner wisdom — both in recovery and self-discovery — Roberta created Open Soma Flow® to integrate art, energy work, mindfulness and somatic movement in her private and group offerings. She creates a sacred space where clients learn to be guided by their body’s own natural intelligence.
